ASSIGNMENT: Minding the Gender Gap. Product redesign and campaign.
Students design a proposed new packaging and create advertising materials promoting a new product. Students design the packaging and a minimum of 4 advertising formats are developed (e.g.; TV ad, bus stop billboard, bus wrap, online banners, etc). Collaboratively, students create a visual design proposal to encourage —in a gender-neutral way— children 12 years old (and older) to be a designer with this specific redesigned product. Students modify and rebrand an existing product (LEGO Architecture Studio kit) to be “The Designer Studio”. In short, with this product and campaign, how would they encourage a younger version of themselves to be a designer while not using limiting gender stereotypes.
